Supplications And Duas

 While Looking into the Mirror-
اللَهُمّ اَنْتَ حَسَّنْتَ خَلْقِى فحسِّنْ خُلُقِى وَحرِّمْ وجْهىِ عَلى النَّار ، الحمْدُ لِلّهِ الِّذِسَوَّى خَلْقى


فَعَدَلهُ ، وَكَرَّمَ صُرَةَ وجْهى فاَحْسنهاَ وَجعَلنِى مِنَ الْمسلِمين

Allahumma anta Hassanta khalqi fa-hassin khuluqi, waharrim wajhi 'al-an-naar. Alhamdulilahil-lathi sawwa khalqi fa'adalah, wakarrama suurata wajhi fa'ahsanaha, waja'alna minal-Muslimeen

(O Allah! You made my physical constitution good so make my disposition good too and keep my face safe from the hellfire. Praise be to Allah Who fashioned and made me proportionate, and honoured my face and made me of the Muslims)

Dua' Before Eating

While Eating
Allahumma barik lana fima razaqtana, waqina adhab-an naar. Bismillah
O Allah! Bless (the food) you provided us and save us from the punishment of the fire. In the Name of Allah.
[ibn as-Sunni]

Upon forgetting to say the du'a:
بسم الله. في أوله وآخره.
Bismillahi fi awwalihi wa akhirihi
In the Name of Allah, in the beginning and the end.
[abu Dawud 3:347, at-Tirmidhi 4:288]

After wudhu

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
Ash-hadu ana-la ilaha illAllah, wahdahu la shareeka lahu, wa-anna Muammadan abduhu wa-rasuuluhu

(I testify that there is No God but Allah, alone without partners, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.)

After Adhaan

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ، آتِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ ، وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا الَّذِي وَعَدْتَهُ

Allahumma rabba haaihid-dawatit-tamma, was-salaatil-qaa-ima, aati Muammadan al-waseelata wal-faDeela, wa-bathhu maqaamam mahmuudan-il-laee waattah

(O Allah! Lord of this perfect call and the established prayer! Grant Muhammad the privilege of intercession (on the Day of Judgment) and superiority, and take him to the exalted place You have promised him)

 Upon Going to Masjid

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِي قَلْبِي نُورًا، وَفِي بَصَرِي نُورًا، وَفِي سَمْعِي نُورًا ، وَعَنْ يَمِينِي نُورًا وَعَنْ يَسَارِي نُورًا، وَفَوْقِي نُورًا وَتَحْتِي نُورًا ، وَأَمَامِي نُورًا وَخَلْفِي نُورًا، وَعَظِّمْ لِي نُورًا

Allahumma-jal fee qalbee nuura, wa-fee baSaree nuura(w), wa-fee samee nuura, wa-ay-yameenee nuura, wa-ay-yasaari nuura, wa-fawqee nuura, wa-tahtee nuura, wa-amaamee nuura, wakhalfee nuura, wajal lee nuuraa

(Oh Allah! Let there be light in my heart, light in my eye-sight, light in my hearing, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, light under me, light in front of me and light behind me, and provide me with light)

Upon entering the Mosque


بِسمِ اللهِ، والصَّلاةُ والسَّلامُ على رسولِ اللهِ ، اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

bismillahi was-salaatu was-salaamu ala rasuulillah. Allahumma-ftah li abwaba ramatik
(In the Name of Allah; may His prayers and peace be upon Allah’s Messenger. Oh Allah! Open for me the gates of Your mercy.)
[ibn as-Sunni: 38, abu Dawud 1:126, Muslim; 1:494, ibn Majah 1:128-9]

Upon exiting the Mosque

بِسمِ اللهِ، والصَّلاةُ والسَّلامُ على رسولِ اللهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

bismil-lahi(i) was-salatu was-salaamu alaa rasuulil-laahi. Allahumma inni as-aluka mi fadlik

(In the name of Allah, and may His blessings and peace be upon Allah’s Messenger. O Allah! I am asking You to give me from Your Bounty)

Upon dressing

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الَّذِى لا إلهَ إلّا هُوَ
Bismillahi, al-ladhi, La illaha illa huwa

(In the Name of Allah. There is no God but He.)
[to be recited when undressing]

اللّهُمَّ إنَّى أسْألُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِهِ وَ خَيْرِ مَا هُوَلَهُ، وَ أعُوذُبِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ وَ شَرِّ مَا هُوَلَهُ
Allahumma inni as'aluka min khairihi wa khairi ma huwa lah. Wa a'udhu bika min sharri wa sharri ma huwa lah

(O Allah! I ask You (for) the good in it and the good for which it is made. And I seek Your Protection from the evil in it and the evil for which it is made.)

الْحَمْدُ للّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا (الثَّوبَ) وَرَزقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَ لا قُوَّةٍ
Alhamdulilahil-ladhi kasaani haadha (ath-thawba) wa razaqanihi min ghairi hawlim-minni wa la qawwatin

(Praise be to Allah who has clothed me with this (garment) and provided it for me, through which I was powerless myself and incapable.)

Upon exiting the Home



بِسْمِ اللهِ ، تَوَكَلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللهِ

Bismillah, Tawwakaltu ala-Allah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah
(In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.)
[abu Dawud; 4:325, at-Tirmidhi 5:490]


اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَضِلَّ ، أَوْ أُضَلَّ ، أَوْ أَزِلَّ ، أَوْ أُزَلَّ أَوْ أَظْلِمَ أَوْ أُظْلَمَ ، أَوْ أَجْهَلَ أَوْ يُجْهَلَ عَلَيَّ

Allahumma inni a'udhubika an adh-dhilla, aw udhalla, aw azzilla, aw uzzalla, aw adhlima, aw udhlama, aw ajhala aw yujhala 'alayya

(O Allah, I take refuge with You lest I should stray or be led astray, or slip or be tripped, or oppress or be oppressed, or behave foolishly or be treated foolishly.)

Upon entering the Home


بِسْمِ الله وَلَجْنَا ، وَ بِسْمِ الله خَرَجْنَا وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا تَوَكَلْنَا

Bismillahi walajnaa, wa bismillahi kharajnaa, wa 'ala Rabbinaa Tawakkalna
(In the name of Allah we enter and in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we place our trust.)
[abu Dawud; 4:325, Muslim 2018]

Upon Waking up


الحَمْدُ لله الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

Alhamdulilahil-ladhi ahyaana ba'da ma amaatana, wa ilayhin nushuur
(All praise is for Allah who gave us life after having taken it from us and unto Him is the return.)
[Sahih al-Bukhari; al-Asqalani in Fath al-Bari; 11:113, Muslim: 4:2083]

Upon Reitiring to Sleep


بِاْسْمِك ربيِّ وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِى وَبِكَ اَرْفَعُهُ ، اِن اَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسى فَاغْفِرْلَهَا ، وَاِنْ اَرْسَلْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا بماَ تَحْفَظُ بِه عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Bismika Rabbi wad'atu janbi wa bika arfa'a'hu. Fa'in amsakta nafsi faghfir laha. Wa'in arsaltaha fahfadh-ha bima tahfadhu bihi 'iibadakas-salihiin
(In Your Name, O Lord, I lay my side (to sleep). And by (Your leave) I raise it up. So if You take away my soul (during sleep) forgive it, and if You send it back (after sleep) protect it even as You Protect Your pious servants.)

Dua' for Starting Ablution: In the name of Allah
 Bismillah
Translation: In the name of Allah
Abdullah ibn as-Sunnabiji stated that the Messenger of Allah SAW said,
"When a slave makes ablution and rinses his mouth, his wrong deeds fall from it. As he rinses his nose, his wrong deeds fall from it. When he washes his face, his wrong deeds fall from it until they fall from beneath his eyelashes. When he washes his hands, his wrong deeds fall from them until they fall from beneath his fingernails. When he wipes his head, his wrong deeds fall from it until they fall from his ears. When he washes his feet, his wrong deeds fall from them until they fall from beneath his toenails. Then his walking to the mosque and his prayer give him extra reward."
[Maalik, Nasaaie, Ibn Majah and Haakim.]

Completing ablution
Dua' for Completing Ablution
Ashadu an laa ilaaha illallah wa ashhadu an na muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasooluhu 
Translation: I testify that there is no god except Allah, the One Who has no partner, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger
At the start of the prayer (after takbeer)
 Dua in Arabic
 

‘O Allaah, distance me from my sins just as You have distanced The East from The West, O Allaah, purify me of my sins as a white robe is purified of filth, O Allaah, cleanse me of my sins with snow, water, and ice.’
 
Sneezing
Thanks and all praise be to Allah (or) Thanks and all praise be to  Allah under all conditions. Alhamdulillah! (right graphic) / Alhamdulillahi 'alaa kul-li haalin (left graphic).
Translation: Thanks and all praise be to Allah (or) Thanks and all praise be to Allah under all conditions.

Praising
Dua' for Praising: Praise be to Allah, many, pure, blessed praises.  Another man commenced with this, to which he SAW said: I saw 12 angels  competing as to which of them would take it up. [Muslim Abu Awaanah] Alhamdulillah hamdan khatheeran taiyyiban mubaarakan feehi
Translation: Praise be to Allah, many, pure, blessed praises. Another man commenced with this, to which he SAW said: I saw 12 angels competing as to which of them would take it up. [Muslim Abu Awaanah]

Thanking Allah
Thanking Allah:Allah is the Greatest, very great. Praise be to  Allah, again and again. Allahu akbar kabeeran wal hamdulillahi katheeran wa subhaanallahi bukratan wa a seelaa
Translation: Allah is the Greatest, very great. Praise be to Allah, again and again.
Glorified is Allah SWT morning and evening - one of the Companions commenced with this, to that the Messenger SAW said

Remembrance of Allah
Remembrance of Allah: You are my Lord (Allah SWT) and I am Your  slave Anta rabbee wa anaa 'abduka
Translation: You are my Lord (Allah SWT) and I am Your slave

Taking off clothes
Dua' for Taking off clothes Bismillahi allazee laa ilaaha illaa huwa 
Translation: In the name of Allah besides whom there is no other worthy of worship. [Ibn Sunni]
The Prophet Muhammad SAW said,
"If one does not ask Allah, He will get angry with him". [Saheeh al-Jami` no.2414]

In wearing clothes
Dua' In Wearing Clothes Allahumma innee as aluka min khairihi wa khairi maa huwa lahu wa a u'oozubika min sharrihi wa sharri maa huwa lahu
Translation: Allah! Verily, grant me the goodness of this clothing and the goodness it delivers, and I ask Thy protection from the evil of this clothing and spare me from the evil that it may cause.[Source: Ibn Sunni]
 
Before eating
Dua' Before Eating Allhuma baa rik lanaa feemaa razaqtanaa wa qinaa azaaba al-naar
Translation: O Allah! Bless us on everything You give us, and avoid us from Hellfire. And with the name of Allah. [Source: Ibnu Sunni]

After eating
Dua' after Eating Alhamdulillahillazee at 'amanaa wa saqaanaa wa kafaa naa wa awaa naa
Translation: All Praises be to Allah, who provides us food, drink, satisfaction and protection 

Starting ablution

Wisdom
Dua' for Wisdom Allahummaftah lee hikmataka wan shur 'alaiyya rahmataka min khazaa ini rahmatika yaa arhama ar-raahimeen.
Translation: O Allah, bless us with wisdom and mercy, O Allah the most Merciful.

When angry
Dua' When Angry A'uoozubillahi minas shaitaanir rajeem
Translation: I take refuge with Allah (SWT) from the accursed devil. [Bukhari and Muslim]

Asking forgiveness
Dua' Asking Forgiveness Allahumma in nee as aluka yaa Allah (wa fee riwaayatin: billah) [al waahidu] as samad allazee lam yalid wa lam yoolad wa lam yakun lahu kufuwwan ahad- an taghfira lee zunoobee inn naka antal ghafoorul raheem
Translation: "O Allah! indeed I ask of You, O Allah (in one narration: by Allah), the One, the Only, the Absolute, Who begets not and nor is He begotten, and there is none like Him, that You forgive me my sins; indeed You are the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. On this, he SAW said, He has been forgiven, he has been forgiven. [Abu Daawood, Nasaaie, Ahmad Ibn Khuzaimah; Haakim declared it saheeh and Dhahabi agreed]
Asking for success
Dua' Asking for Success Rabbanaa a tinaa fid dunyaa hasanah wa fil akhirati hasanatan wa qinaa azaaban naar
Translation: Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the life to come and keep us safe from the torment of the Fire[Al-Baqarah :201]

Increasing success
Dua' for Increasing Success Rabbee zidnee 'ilman war zuqnee fahman
Translation: O Allah, bless me with more knowledge and true understanding

Zikr
Zikr "Subhaanallahi wal hamdulillahi wa laa ilaaha illallahu wallahu akbar wa la haula wala quwwata illa billahil 'aliyil 'azeem".
Translation: Allah the Most Exalted, praise be to Allah, there is no God but Allah, and there is
no help except from Allah, the Almighty and the Great.

Glorify Allah
Dua' for Glorify Allah Allahuakbar kabeeraa 
Translation: Allah is the Greatest, Very Great.

Remembrance of Allah
Remembrance of Allah Laa ilaaha illallah
Translation: There is no true god except Allah
Upon leaving the house
Dua' Upon Leaving the House Allahumma innee a'uoozubika an adhilla auw adhalla auw azilla auw uzalla auw azhlima auw uzhlama auw ajhala auw yujhala 'alaiyya
Translation: O Allah, I take refuge with You lest I should stray or be led stray , or slip or be tripped, or oppressed, or behave foolishly or be treated foolishly [Source, Abu Dawood, Tirmizi]

Upon entering the house
Dua' Upon Entering The House Bismillahi walajnaa wa bismillahi kharajnaa wa 'alaa rabbinaa tawakkalnaa
Translation: In the name of Allah we enter and in the name of Allah we leave and upon our Lord we place our trust. [Source: Abu Dawood with saheeh Isnaad] 

Avoiding sins
Dua' for Avoiding Sins Allahumma innee a'oozubika min sharri maa 'amaltu wa min sharri maa lam 'a mal [ba'd]. 
Translation: "O Allah! truly I seek refuge with You from the evil of what I have done, and from the evil of what I have not done (i.e. from the evil of the bad actions I have done, and from the evil of not doing good actions)[yet].

Avoiding hellfire
Dua' for Avoiding Hellfire Allahumma in nee a'ouuzubika minal dhaiqi yaumal hisaab
Translation: O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the distress of the Day of Account (ten times).

Waking up from sleep
Dua' for waking up from sleep Alhamdulillahi lazee ahyaanaa b'ada amaatanaa wa ilaihil nushoor
Translation: Thanks be to Allah who awoke us after our death and He is the only one that can resurrect us.

Seeing bad dreams
Dua' for Seeing bad Dreams Alhamdulillahi lazee ahyaanaa b'ada amaatanaa wa ilaihil nushoor
Translation: Thanks be to Allah who awoke us after our death and He is the only one that can resurrect us.

Leaving mosque
Dua' for Leaving Mosque Bismillahi wassolaatu wassalaamu 'alaa rasoolillah Allahumma innee as aluka min fadhlika Allahumma i'isimnee minaa shaitaanir rajeem
Translation: In the name of Allah,and parayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, I askYou from your Favour. O Allah, guard me from the accused devil. [Abu Dawood, Saheeh al-Jaami' # 4591]

Entering mosque
Dua' for Entering Mosque  Allahummaghfirlee zunoobee waftah lee abwaaba rahmatika
Translation: O Allah! Pardon all my sins and open your doors of blessing to me

 
Walking to the mosque
Dua' for Walking to the Mosque Allahummaj'al fee qalbee nooran wa fee lisaanee nooran waj'al fee sam'iee nooran, waj'al fee basaree nooran, waj'al fee khalfee nooran wa min amaamee nooran waj'al min fauqee nooran wa min tahtee nooran . Allahumma i'itinee nooran.
Translation: O Allah, please put light into my heart. Turn my hearing into light. Let there be light in front of me, above, and below me/ O Allah, grant me light. [Source: Muslim] 

Visiting the sick
Dua' for Visiting the Sick As alullah al-'azheem rabb al-'arsh al-'azheem an yashfeeka
Translation: I ask Allah the Supreme, Lord of the magnificent throne to cure you

When there is bodyache
Dua' When There is Bodyache Aoozu bi'izzatillaahi wa qudratihi wa sultaanihi min sharri maa ajidu.
Translation: I seek the protection of Allah's Prestige, His Power, His Dominance and His Kingship from the evil of my pain.[Hasan and Tirmizi] 

Asking Al-Jannah
Dua' Asking Al-Jannah Allahumma in nee as aluka bi anna lakalhamd, laa ilaaha illa anta [wahdaka laa shreeka lak], [al-manaan], [yaa]badee' as samaawaati wal ardh, yaa zal jalaa li wal ikraam, yaa haiyyu yaa qaiyyoom [in nee as aluka]
[al-jannata wa a'oouzubika minar naar] 
Translation: "O Allah! Indeed, I ask of You, by the fact that to You belongs all Praise; there is no (true) god except You, [You alone, You have no partners;] the Bestower of Favours; [O] Originator of the Heavens and the Earth; O One that is Full of Majesty and Honour; O Living One, O Eternal One; [indeed I ask of You] [the Garden, and I seek refuge with You from the Fire].

Asking for firmness of iman
Dua' asking for firmness of iman Rabbanaghfirlanaa zunoobanaa wa israafanaa fee amrinaa wa thabbit aqdaamanaa wan sur naa
'alal qaumal kaafireen
Translation: Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and the lack of moderation in our doings, and make firm our steps and succour us against those who deny the truth. [Ale Imraan: 147]
